Is Paracetamol any good for treating low back pain?

An article that appeared in the Lancet on 1st November 2014 suggested that Paracetamol was no better than placebo at treating mechanical low back pain

The authors of this article are reporting the results of a Randomised Controlled Trial on the question of the effectiveness of paracetamol in treating mechanical low back pain. They concluded: "Our findings suggest that regular or as-needed dosing with paracetamol does not affect recovery time compared with placebo in low-back pain, and question the universal endorsement of paracetamol in this patient group."
